EMportant Info...How I Lost 17 Pounds in 3 Months!!

How many of you have decided to eat a little healthier in 2016?  (I'm raising my hand, too!)  But, healthy eating never starts on New Year's Day because you haven't purged the pantry (aka finished off the Christmas candy) or gone grocery shopping; AND it's still a holiday and no one diets on a holiday!  Then, in 2016, we scored an extra bonus of a weekend following New Year's Day.  No one starts eating healthy on a weekend!  So here we are, kicking off the first full week of 2016 trying to eat healthy.

Last summer, after a couple of vacations, I weighed and realized I had added about 10 pounds to my weight.  Ten pounds, in two months!  My stomach felt bloated, my clothes started to get tight and I knew I had to act fast before this got out of control.  My sweet friend, Kristie, told me about Trim Healthy Mama.  Kristie has lost 40 pounds since March of 2015 and looks amazing; so I knew it worked!  I immediately bought the Trim Healthy Mama book and started reading enthusiastically.  This book contained so much knowledge I had to read it twice for it all to soak in; but, this pair of sisters were on to something!  I wanted in, fast!

On August 23, 2015 I started my Trim Healthy Mama journey.  I immediately saw results and felt so much better.  My tummy felt better, my energy level was higher, and most importantly, I didn't feel deprived.  In fact, I felt like I was overeating (even when I was losing weight), so I started recording all my foods on MyPalFitness, Just because I wanted to see how many calories I was consuming.  Please note, Trim Healthy Mama (THM) does NOT encourage you to count calories, but I was just curious.  THM is not a diet, but a way of eating; eating "on plan" as they call it.

It can be confusing at first, but the book explains it really well.  Basically, our bodies can either burn glucose or insulin.  It can't burn both at once; so, when we eats fats WITH carbs, it burns one and sends the other to storage.  Unfortunately for us, by the time it's ready to burn what we sent to storage , we're ready to eat again-sending more to storage.   We must choose to eat either foods that contain glucose or insulin at each meal-not both.  THM encourages followers to choose either a high fat meal, but no carbs OR you can choose a meal with healthy carbs, but low (or no) fat in that meal.  Clear as mud, right?  Trust me, I am NOT "naturally nutritious" and I lost 17 pounds in 3 months!

Since purchasing my book THM has two new books:The  Easy Does it Approach to Vibrant Health and a Slim Waste Line and a cook book, Eat Up and Slim Down.

I decided to enjoy my Christmas and eat whatever I want and worry about it in January.  While I enjoyed treats that you only eat once a year, my stomach did not!  I haven't even weighed, but the way my tummy feels makes me want to jump back on the THM bandwagon ASAP!

One of my trusty bystanders found in my THM Book is the Fat Stripping Frappa.  This has been my breakfast so many times that my book naturally opens to the page it is featured on.  There are so many variations to it, but here's my favorite:

In my blender, I blend together the first seven ingredients:

1/2 cup of Almond Milk
1/2 cup of Water
1 Tablespoon of Cocoa
Pinch of Sea Salt
3 Tablespoons of Gentle Sweet (More if you prefer)  **I was out of Gentle Sweet, so I used Swerve, my other favorite sweetener.  You can also find Swerve at Albertson's.
A Dash of Vanilla
1/2 teaspoon of THM Glucomman Powder

Anytime this guy hears the blender, he comes running.  He is the ultimate Sous-Chef!

Important Note...which will forever more be referred to as EMportant note...because my name is EMily, get it???  Anyway, it is EMportant, in my opinion, that you add the glucomman last.  I found that if you add it earlier it gets gloopy.  Is that a word?

Then blend, blend, blend!

After blending it up, add some ice.  THM recommend adding 16 ice cubes, but I only add about a cup of crushed ice.  Feel free to add more if you like an icy shake.  After the ice is combined, add 1 scoop of THM Protein Powder.  After the protein is added, it magically turns into a frosty like consistency.  Yum!!

This is so good and filling.  I have also added leftover coffee and cinnamon and turned it into a fancy coffee shop treat.  You can also substitute the cocoa for strawberries and have a light smoothie-like drink.  The options are endless.

Let's review what we learned today:
1) Carbs are BAD!
2) Sugar is BAD!
3) My son is CUTE!

(Not in any particular order)
