High Five For Friday!

My little corner of the blogging world has been quiet this week due to Spring Break, but my house has been anything but quiet!  If you read my post on Monday, you know Jess and I came up with 10 Spring Break goals.  We accomplished most of them, but sadly, we did not potty train Jentry.  Hey, there's always summer break, right?  We also didn't make homemade taffy, but Jess has a fabulous big sister that read my post while she was away in Galveston, and brought him home some salt water taffy.  Kendall to the rescue!

Here's what else we loved this week:

ONE
Mark and I got to cross something off of our "Couples Bucket List" this week.  Kendall had a competition near Fort Worth Saturday morning, so Mark and I made a stop through the Fort Worth Stockyards for lunch.  We have been there before, but this time we wanted to eat at one of celebrity chef, Tim Love's, restaurants.  We became fans of Tim Love after watching him on Top Chef and have wanted to try one of his four local restaurants since.  We ate at The Love Shack, which is his more casual restaurant, in the Stockyards.  We could not have asked for a better day to be sitting out on the patio, listening to live music and enjoying the company.

TWO
Monday morning, we immediately started crossing off things on our Spring Break List.  First up, was open gym!

They played hard for two solid hours!

THREE
We also accomplished making "Cloud Dough" this week.  The recipe we followed, was eight cups of flour and 1 cup of baby oil.  I realized fast that the little, Dollar Store tablecloth was NOT going to be enough to contain this mess...

So, all Cloud Dough festivities were then relocated to the patio.  They loved it!  We got their beach toys out and it kept them occupied and entertained for a while.

FOUR
Trader Joe's for the win on this chocolate bar.  Before doing Trim Healthy Mama, I NEVER would have eaten dark chocolate, but now my tastes have changed.  I love this!  The best part, it is divided into rectangles (like a Hershey's bar), so I can easily just eat a piece or two and satisfy my sweet craving, without going overboard.  I highly recommend it.

FIVE
One of Jentry's favorite things to say right now is, "I do it myself!"  I was trying to help her with a yogurt yesterday and she kept pulling away from me.  I would tell her, "You're not going to get all of the good stuff, if you don't let me help you."  But, repeatedly she said, "No, I do it myself!"  It made me stop and think about all the times I miss out on the good stuff because I am determined to try and do it myself, when I have a God that is right there saying, "Let me help.  There's an easier way.  You're making this too hard."  So many times I take on the worries, stress, fear and anxiety on my own instead of turning it over to God.  Whether it's a big issue or a small one, He's here to listen to me.  My grandmother always had a song in her heart and often walked around singing.  Yesterday, I was reminded of one of her beloved Gaither tunes, "I Need Thee Every Hour."  One of the lyrics says, "I need thee every hour in joy or in pain."  I just wanted to remind you that God isn't too busy to hear the desires of your heart, no matter how big or how small, but you must first turn them over to Him (and yes, I need to practice what I preach)!

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you all have a FABULOUS weekend!  I'm linking up with some of my favorite bloggers today.  Check them out, too!

  1. Ahhh your #5 - we always seem to forget - ask God, give it to God, let him get the good stuff ready for us! Dark chocolate is a weakness for me so I'll be trying that bar. This NC girl has heard about the Stockyards - maybe one day I'll venture to Texas and try it too! xo Amanda

    1. Cloud Dough is fun, but I would definitely recommend it as strictly an outdoor project! They've been talking about it all week, so it was a success for sure!
