Friday Favorites!

We made it to Friday...which means I am sharing five of my favorite things with you from this week.

ONE
I'll start with my previous posts from the week, in case you missed one:
On Tuesday, I linked up with Karli for 10 on Tuesday.  I shared 10 phrases that never, ever, ever need to be in a country music song again.  Words like money maker, gurl (aka girl) and hometown.  My teenage daughter is still upset about this post.  Apparently she is a country music fan.  She said I was "throwing shade at her."  As soon as I figure out what that means, I'll let you know.
On Wednesday I linked up with Crystal and Beth for The Kids Behind the Blog.  I interviewed all three of my kiddos asking them the same questions.  You never know what to to expect with these kids!  Someone wants a bacon tree in the backyard (Oops, looks at me throwing shade again)! #Kendall

TWO
I hosted my monthly Bunko group at my house Tuesday.  I look forward to Bunko each month.  Such a fun group of ladies!  We play with twelve people, so it works out perfectly that everyone takes a month to host.  When you host, you provide the meal.  Since I am eating the Trim Healthy way, and so are a few of my Bunko friends, I decided to go with a low carb menu (I did include mashed potatoes for those non-carb watchers).  A few weeks ago I read on A.Liz Adventures about her Supper Club menu and decided to copy it exactly (except for the mashed potatoes).  I served Mississippi Pot Roast, Mashed Garlic Cauliflower, Mashed Potatoes and Green Beans.  I love, love, love cooking for people, BUT I am not a dessert fan, so I wasn't sure what to make.  My go to dessert for the last eight years has been Sopapilla Cheesecake.  It is AMAZING, but not low carb or sugar free, so I ventured out and made this No Bake Strawberry Cheesecake.  I was impressed; it was so good!  I forgot to take a picture, but this is pretty much what mine looked like, too (maybe a little less perfect, though).

THREE
Speaking of eating Trim Healthy Mama...I am not a big breakfast person.  I mean, I do love breakfast food, so I guess I should rephrase that as, I am not a big "morning" person.  The thought of waking up and making breakfast is torture.  I love when other people make breakfast for me though.  #IHopeYoureReadingThisMarkTomorrowIsSaturday
I've been trying to find a Quest Bar (Trim Healthy Mama approved) that I really like and I finally did!  I found the S'mores Quest Bar, at Trader Joe's.  It is soft and tasty and doesn't feel like you're chewing the same bite for twenty minutes.  They're a bit pricey ($2.39 a bar), but it's a meal replacement bar, so I think it's worth it.  My runner up Quest Bar is White Chocolate Raspberry.

FOUR
I finally finished my china hutch!  I am so excited.  I love it!  If you missed the previous post, I found a dining room table and hutch at an online garage sale.  It was a perfect project piece for me.  It's taken me a sweet forever, but it's finally done!

DURING:  (Table finished, hutch was not)

AFTER:

I am not an expert DIYer, but I have a post planned for next week that will show you step by step an easy way to give your furniture a quick face lift with chalk paint.  Look for it on Tuesday!

FIVE
Little Jentry is becoming so independent.  She gets her own snacks out of the refrigerator and even washes her apples in the bathroom sink (because she can reach that sink with the step stool) before eating them.  I laughed this week when I noticed one of the glass votives was missing from my coffee table center piece...about the same time I realized little sister had helped herself to a "glass" of water.  Goodness, that girl!  It was one of those moments where I know I should have gotten on to her, but it was just so funny.

Thank you so much for stopping by.  I am so thankful for my loyal readers!  Hope you have a fabulous weekend!

Emily

I'm linking up with the regulars...

    1. Thank you! You should try it! Chalk paint is so easy...plus, you can never really mess it up, because you can just strip it down and start again. (And trust me I did that. It took me four times to get the stain on the table right!)

  6. OMG... the hutch is stunning!! Good for you! I bet you feel pride every time you walk in the room. Good for you that your little ones are getting more independent. It's good for you and good for them. I stressed independence with my two girls and had them doing their own laundry by 12. When they got to college, a lot of their classmates didn't even know how to put the washing machine on!! Have a great weekend.

    1. Thank you, Misty! You'll have to check out the S'mores, it's very similar to the chocolate chip cookie dough, just a little "softer" to me. Hope you're enjoying your weekend!

  8. WOW! You did a fabulous job on the cabinet, I'm in love! Restoring furniture is a huge therapy for me. I have two large pieces that need some magic but they are so large that I may just have to let them sit a while longer. I'm going to check out that bar too! Happy weekend!

    1. I hear ya! I had to stare at those pieces for a while before starting on them just to make sure I knew exactly what I wanted to do. You're right, restoring furniture is therapeutic to me, too.

    1. Thank you!! Bunko is so easy, all you have to do is know how to roll some dice. It is mindless, so it gives you plenty of time to chat and hang out. I look forward to it every month. Hope you're having a great weekend.
