Friday Favorites

Everybody's working for the weekend....well, unless you're a mom...then you're working for bedtime.  It's Friday and as always, I am sharing five of my favorite things with you from this week.

ONE
Blog life was a bit slow this week, but I did mange to post two other times this week.  Wednesday I linked up for The Kids Behind the Blog, May edition.  Thursday's post Kids These Days was written after a conversation on the way home from picking Kendall up at school on the differences of life now versus "The Olden Days" aka when I was a teenager.  As much as I look forward to Kendall driving to ease my schedule a little, I will miss our afternoon conversations in the car.  I love that she still shares a little of her day with me.

TWO
No one likes a rainy Monday, right?  Well, that is unless you scored some new Hunter rain boots for Mother's Day like I did.  There are a few downsides to having a teenager (#sass), but one of the best things is the fact that she really knows what mama wants for Mother's Day.  Good job Kendall & crew.  I feel like I am an official blogger now.

THREE
Peanut butter and jelly.  Popcorn and Movies.  Batman and Robin.  Zack and Kelly.  Please tell me you know who Zack and Kelly are, right?  I grew up with Zack and Kelly.  We went to school together, OK, I didn't go go Bayside High, but I did watch Saved By The Bell every afternoon after school.  I even cried when they broke up.  But, good news, Kelly didn't end up with that jerk Jeff from the Max.  Kelly...or as she prefers Tiffani is married in real life, has a family and has her very own cooking show on the Cooking Channel, and guess who her guest was this week?  You guessed it...Zack (aka Mark Paul).  I loved seeing them together.  So fun!  In case you missed it, I'm sure it will rerun no less than 6,328 times this summer.  I may have snapped this picture last time we all hung out...or I may have just swiped it off of Tiff's Instagram.  I can't remember...

In all seriousness though, I did meet the actor that portrayed Mr. Belding in Los Angeles when I was a teenager.  And, as my loyal readers know, if I see a famous person I will meet them; so now I am the proud owner of a Dennis Haskins autograph.  I know you're all jealous of that one.  Of all the Saved By The Bell cast members I could have met, I bump into Mr. Belding...

FOUR
Before I start this one, I think it is important to note these are in no particular order.  There's no way that Zack, Kelly or Hunter Boots would come before my next favorite.  My baby girl was dedicated at church this past Sunday.  A baby/child dedication is basically where Mark and I commit to raising Jentry in accordance to God's will.  I loved that this ceremony was on Mother's Day, too.  Of all the things that I learned from my mom, grandmother and even great grandmother, it's how important it is to have a relationship with Jesus, but also how important church involvement is.  Going to church doesn't make you a Christian, but surrounding yourself with people that will hold you accountable and with similar views is crucial in having a flourishing relationship with Christ.  I love that my kids are surrounded by family, friends and community members that share these values.

FIVE
A few months ago I signed up for an online giveaway that Amy over at The Farmer's Wife was hosting for $150 gift card to Minted.  I received an email a week later that I had won.  I was shocked.  I never win anything.   It took me about a month to scroll through all of the fabulous products (actually art work, not just products) that Minted offers.  I finally decided to splurge on throw pillows for our sofa.  We have considered purchasing new furniture for a while now, but then we find things like banana peels on our cushions and decide to just cope with it a few more years.  Adding some fun, new throw pillows will help get me enjoy my old furniture in a new way.  I ordered two of the Herringbone Stack pillows and two of the Speckled Chevron pillows.  I love them and they add just the right color to lighten it up for the spring and summer months.

And even better news for the kiddos...the pillows came in a box.  We're talking hours of fun right there.

Well, maybe not an hour, but it was at least fifteen minutes before the arguing started and I threatened to put it in the recycle bin.  But, it was a blissful fifteen minutes.

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you have a fantastic weekend!

Emily

    1. You'll have to catch the rerun. It looked like some pretty good recipes, too. She grilled artichokes, which I've never done. Yum!

  3. So I love your Hunters but I also love your flowers. I'm not sure what those are called but I planted those a few summers ago and managed to kill them in about a week. I definitely don't have a green thumb, that's for sure. And I LOVE those pillows! Great picks!

    1. Thanks! My husband planted those last Saturday for me, so they've almost survived a week. I don't have a green thumb either, but I'm hoping to learn. I would love to have an herb garden one day.

  8. Emily, I came over from your comment at Living on Cloud Nine. Looks like you had a great week! I think it's so funny the way kids (and cats) love boxes, sometimes more than the toys that came in them (or, in the case of our cat, more than the fancy-schmancy cat bed we wasted our money on!).

  9. What is it about boxes being the best toy?!? Such a cute picture, though!
I love your new boots. Those are on my list of wants. Maybe for Christmas! ;)
