Mother's Day Exchange

Happy Friday, friends...or as I'm calling it, Mother's Day Eve Eve.  This week my blog has been all about moms!  On Monday I shared My Favorite Mother's Day gift ever, and yesterday I interviewed the Mom Behind the Blog...aka my mom.  Today, I am excited to share all about my participation in the 2nd Annual Mother's Day Exchange!  No, this isn't a new ABC Reality Mom Swapping Show...although I'm sure there are times my kids (especially my teenager) wouldn't mind swapping for a day or two.

About an month ago I was reading Elizabeth's blog when she announced that her and Courtney were teaming up to do their annual Mother's Day swap.  As a fairly new blogger, I had never participated in an exchange of any type, so I decided to jump in and participate.  Basically, Elizabeth emailed me a name (and email address) of the person that I would be buying for, and emailed my name and email address to someone that would buy for me.  Jacie over at The Fella Life was assigned me, and I had the honor of buying for Johanna at The Sirois Family.  The rules of the exchange are simple; get to know your partner and buy them something you think they would enjoy, spending at least $20 and mail it to them.  Sounds fun, right?

First, let me tell you how much I have enjoyed getting to know the ladies I was partnered up with.  If it weren't for this exchange I might not have discovered their blogs and gotten to "know" them.  Jacie (which ironically is the name of one of my real life BFF's) is so down to earth and fun.  I love reading about her adventures with her son, especially geocaching...which I am going to have to try.  Johannah is an only child, like me, with two beautiful daughters.  Every time she posts something about her two year old, it reminds me so much of my two year old.  I love how being a mom unites women from all over.

Ok, let's get to the good part...the gifts!  Yep, remember receiving gifts is my love language.  I wouldn't have signed up for a words of affirmation exchange!  #LoveLanguages

I was so excited to receive this box from Jacie in the mail!  Eeek!  Look at the little gold E.  Perfect.

Jacie wrote me the sweetest, most encouraging note, too.  Now, here's the sad part.  I seriously have been kicking myself for two weeks about this.  Jacie had everything wrapped and packed so perfectly, and I didn't take a picture.  Blogger Fail!  I am so bummed about this.  It was the cutest wrapping paper.  I learned a big blog lesson...never dive into a package without taking a picture first.

Jacie definitely did her research on me!  Look how cute this baseball dish towel is.  I hope some of my mom friends don't try to steal that next time they come over.  I love it!

Again, Jacie did her research and knows I love to cook!  I am loving these recipe cards, with stamps so that I can categorize the recipe.  I am old school, and even though most recipes are online, I still love to have my frequently used recipes written out, so these are going to come in handy!  Perfect!

Last, but not least, Jacie included some Jamberry nails...in baseball print.  How fun is that!  I am going to have to buy Ranger tickets just to do my nails!  I have seen Jamberry, but never used it, so I am excited to try it.

I would say overall Jacie hit it out of the park (see what I did there), with this exchange.  I got some fun gifts, and best of all made some new blog friends.  This was so fun to participate in, and I look forward to next year.  Thank you Elizabeth and Courtney for organizing this exchange.

Curious what I got Johannah?  Well, just hop on over to her blog and find out....

Have a great weekend!!

Emily

P.S. I am linking up with a few others for Friday Favorites...

    1. She did great. I am super excited to use the jamberry, too. I'm a little nervous though...I thinkng I'll have to wait until Kendall is free to help me. The good thing about having a teenager, she can figure out ANYTHING!

I have a super unorganized folder of recipes I've printed off or written out over the years and all in random sizes that I can never find what I'm looking for.
